Spice up the night by learning the steps and techniques of Cuban salsa dancing in this energetic, interactive workshop.

Los Hacheros present their style of Cuban music, blending unique instrumentation with classic son, charanga, and salsa.

Casplash kicks off with a blend of calypso, soca, reggae, pop, funk, and R&B.

Immerse yourself in the traditions and cultures of the Caribbean by learning dances from the African diaspora with Cumbe: Center for African and Diaspora Dance.
6:00 p.m. Film
Set against the violent political landscape of 1970s Jamaica, Better Mus’ Come is a love story as seen through the eyes of a young father and community leader. Presented in partnership with caribBEING.
6:30 p.m. Curator Talk
Rocio Aranda-Alvarado, Curator of El Museo del Barrio, discusses the way the body is studied, analyzed, and referenced by many contemporary Caribbean artists.
8:30 p.m. Music Showcase
Zing Experience performs a fusion of Haitian roots, reggae, and rock.
8:30 p.m. Book Club
The independent bookstore showcasing Latino writers, La Casa Azul, presents a discussion with writer Angie Cruz, whose life in the Washington Heights neighborhood of Manhattan informs her novels Let It Rain Coffee and Soledad.
8:30 p.m. Film
Presented in partnership with caribBEING, Ring Di Alarm is an anthology of seven shorts by six directors highlighting the complexity and diversity of modern day Jamaica.

At the Brooklyn Museum's Target First Saturdays, thousands of visitors enjoy free programs of art and entertainment each month, from 5 to 11 p.m. All evening long, the Museum Café serves a wide selection of sandwiches, salads, and beverages, and a cash bar offers wine and beer. Parking is a flat rate of $5 starting at 5 p.m. All other Saturdays, the Museum closes at 6 p.m.
Please note that due to limited capacities, some Target First Saturday programs require tickets. Ticket lines often form 30 minutes before ticket distribution at the Visitor Center located in the Rubin Lobby. Members may pick up tickets from the Membership Desk while supplies last. Programs subject to change without notice.
